Week Zero- Carnival

Today's event was the grandaddy of all events we have put on to date. We had a dunk tank where we dunked a real live USC Trojan! We had inflatable games like Jacob's Ladder, Wreaking Ball and Rapid Fire. We served lemonade, popcorn and hot dogs. We set up a face-cutout standee for photo ops. We had music and prizes. Over a four hour span there were 500+ students involved in our carnival.

I would say what # of this or that we handed out today, but I don't really know the stats off hand other than the fact that we handed out 750 lemonades today. All the rest would be conjecture, so I will just say that we handed out a lot of things today.

Here are just a few photos.

The Carnies!

Whelp, I am ultra tired and am going sign off. Goodnight my loves!

Week Zero- Snow Cones & Frisbee

Today's promo items: Sunglasses, tumblers and snowcones
# of snowcones handed out: 700
# of tumblers and sunglasses: I actually don't know these numbers

Yes, you read correctly, we handed out 700 snowcones today. We set up a frisbee throw game, a bean bag toss game and our snowcone table. If you made one out of four tries you won either the tumbler or the pair of sunglasses depending on the game.  Following our snowcone/games and prize giveaway we played ultimate frisbee (well our team did while I took pictures, my ankle isn't exactly in tip top shape unfortunately.)

Here are a few of those pictures...

Whelp, I better get my sleep, tomorrow is the carnival! O_O

Week Zero- Activities Fair

The madness has begun!

Today we were busy little bees handing out flyers, promo products (as seen in the previous post) and introducing new students to our group.

If you are not in the know, UCLA's Activities Fair is complete chaos. Basically every group on campus sets up a table and has informative flyers, giveaways and sometimes games to make their first impression to incoming students and returning students.

Today's promo items: T-shirts and drawstring bags
# of bags handed out: 300
# of shirts handed out: 350
And countless conversations and connections made.

Needless to say, today was a good day. And boy, am I beat. (Note to self: wear better shoes next time, srsly. -___- )

Just some shots of today.
This doesn't even give justice to  how cray everything was.

Handing out flyers.

Bird's eye view.

How cute are they?!

Good looking bunch if I do say so myself!

Arizona #3

Today I was on campus promoting the evening service by handing out Otter Pops and flyers. I ate the most amazing fish taco at a local Mexican restaurant with the gang.

Taken with my phone...not the best picture but it gives you an idea of what it looked like.

We had an outstanding service this evening and followed that up with hangout time in this little square called the University Park. Since I didn't really get a lot of pictures of the promoting and Mexican food eating, I made sure I got some shots of the park at the end. Though most of them were a little too shaky (its dark and I used my knee as a tripod) to share.

Tonight was a cooler yet humid evening, which was quite the break from the past couple days where the temperature has been in the triple digits. There was a small fountain in the center and restaurants surrounding on all sides. One of the restaurants is a Mediterranean restaurant and were playing Arabic pop music, which is my personal fave.

Today was a good day and tonight was a good night.

WCSG

This weekend was a time of rest and restoration. We had our Chi Alpha Staff Gathering, which was full of stories, worship, prayer, messages, encouragements and so much more. We capped off the weekend with a fun 50's themed party... the bottom picture is my sad attempts to being from the 50's. Everyone else wore poodle skirts, rolled up jeans and chuck taylors and I walked around looking like whatever that is.

Tomorrow I leave for Kansas and won't be back till the 18th. I have dreams of taking at least one picture a day and then posting it on here but I haven't exactly been faithful to you...which I am very sorry about.  I think the problem is, that I don't really think people want to hear about my life. It feels kind of selfish. So maybe I will try and branch out a bit and see how I can spice things up or something.

Speaking of being selfish... my birthday is on Sunday, you should be excited. I will post pictures of things that I expect you to send me in the mail. You're welcome.
